Sustainable & Urban Mobility Event: Paris, France, May 2 & 3, 2024

To whom it may concern,

I would like to invite you to the IEEE SA 'Sustainable and Urban Mobility' event, which is an in-person workshop and learning expedition scheduled for May 2 and 3, 2024.

The main goal of the event is to co-create use cases that may be practically prototyped and piloted in a city neighborhood in order to collectively explore the Sustainable and Urban Mobility theme, using an immersive and experiential approach. We aim to be inclusive and invite key actors in the Sustainable and Urban Mobility industry to bring in as many perspectives, expertise and experiences to our co-creation event as possible.

IEEE and the IEEE SA advance technology for the benefit of humanity. Its Mobility Practice tackles social issues such as "zero emissions" for the duration of a networked vehicle's lifecycle, "zero accidents," and accessible, affordable travel for everyone in both rural and densely populated locations. Specifically, the Industry Connection project on a "Impact Assessment Framework for Sustainable Mobility Systems" looks into metrics and rating systems to evaluate the commercial viability, technological readiness, and consumer and citizen mobility behaviors for sustainable mobility solutions from the perspective of systemic change.

This event will be in collaboration with Professor Carlos Moreno and his colleagues from Chaire ETI, part of IAE Paris Business School, University Sorbonne, Paris, France.  Professor Carlos Moreno has coined the term "15-minute city" or Sustainable Proximity concept. It is a thorough strategy for human-centered city planning in the future that is built on social innovation and public participation. Mobility is significantly affected, and many impacts have not been thoroughly investigated.

This event is designed to be experiential and practical. The first day will consist of a Clichy Batignolles Tour, a neighborhood suburb in Paris based on the ‘15-minute city’ concept, enabling a hands-on experience in the field.  The second day will be spent reflecting, discussing, and working together to co-create and co-design use cases.  The objective is to provide participants the opportunities for collaborative action in order to pilot these use case prototypes in city neighborhoods.  Beyond the May event, these use cases will need to be developed further collectively by the Industry Connection and collaborators in ongoing initiatives.

Kindly inform me of your interest and availability on May 2nd and 3rd, 2024. You may confirm by sending an email to h.brand@ieee.org or directly register for the event at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/74910eff3c1344a5a37e6d351507af05.

I look forward to hearing from you.  I am open to any recommendations or questions that you may have.

Best regards,
