Title:
Modeling, Control, and Optimization of Intelligent Transportation Systems
Synopsis of the Special Session:
The rapid evolution of intelligent transportation systems is transforming how mobility, logistics, and infrastructure are designed and operated. Emerging applications such as autonomous vehicles, low-altitude aerial mobility, next-generation rail systems, and and intelligent logistics networks increasingly rely on complex system architectures, hybrid operational modes, and tight performance and safety constraints, posing significant challenges to modeling, control, and optimization.
This special session aims to provide a forum for researchers working on control engineering and automation methods applied to intelligent transportation systems. The session welcomes contributions spanning theory and applications, including continuous and hybrid dynamics, multi-agent coordination, optimization under constraints, data-driven and AI-based decision making, and verification and validation as supporting tools for system analysis.
Transportation systems of interest include ground vehicles, rail systems, low-altitude aerial mobility, and automated logistics. By addressing shared challenges across these domains, the session seeks to foster cross- domain insights and methodological integration, particularly approaches that demonstrate scalability, robustness, and practical relevance in real-world transportation settings.
The expected outcome of this session is to highlight common methodological foundations across different transportation systems, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between control, automation, and transportation communities, and promote automation-oriented solutions for next-generation transportation challenges.
