ISC2 is the first premier annual conference sponsored by the IEEE Smart Cities Steering Committee, with this year’s theme being Smarter Cities for Sustainability. As cities worldwide are affected daily by changes in population, climate, congestion, and more, challenges continue to arise. The IEEE International Smart Cities Conference theme, Smarter Cities for Sustainability, incorporates innovative, conceptual, city-wide technology-human-infrastructure integration platforms promoting information and sensing technology utilization, citizen engagement, quality of life, manufacturing efficiency, economic development, and environmental sustainability.
The conference committee includes experts from nearly 10 different countries across the world, together bringing diverse perspectives and providing international expertise for attendees to learn from one another.

Yinhai WangYinhai Wang is a professor in transportation engineering and the founding director of the Smart Transportation Applications and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab) at the University of Washington (UW). He also serves as director for Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans), USDOT University Transportation Center for Federal Region 10. Dr. Wang serves as a member of the Freeway Operations Committee, Transportation Information Systems and Technology Committee, and Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He was an elected member of the Board of Governors for the IEEE ITS Society (2010 to 2013), and is currently a member of the steering committee for the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative. He has published over 80 peer reviewed journal articles and delivered more than 100 invited talks and nearly 200 other academic presentations.
